Navigating the Journey

Knowledge is Power

Research shows that when someone receives a diagnosis of a terminal or life-limiting illness, both they and their caregivers need clear information about what lies ahead. Whether you’ve been told you have months or years, the uncertainty can bring waves of anxiety and fear. But knowledge is power—it allows you to make choices that honour your values and priorities, helping you navigate this journey on your terms.

About the Program

This free 8 week online course is for anyone and/or their caregivers who has received a life-limiting diagnosis, whether or not they are receiving life prolonging treatments.

These one-hour on line group medical visits are designed for patients and caregivers. Each session is led by a physician, with occasional guest experts. These classes are ongoing, and you can pick which ones you would like to attend.

A New Beginning – Part 1

This may be the last chapter of your life—and the opportunity to write that chapter the way you want – and as meaningful as possible for yourself and the people you love

A referral from a physician or a nurse practitioner is required.

About the Program

This short 4-week program prepares you for your transition into this new way of being. It is designed as an introduction to a virtual framework of mindfulness, connection and community for those suffering from terminal illness.

What You’ll Learn

We meet virtually weekly on ZOOM for 1 ½ hour sessions. Through guided meditations, self-reflection and group discussions, we’ll learn to start to turn towards and move through discomfort, developing a new relationship with ourselves, our physical bodies and our relationships – creating the intention of living a life of no regrets.

A New Beginning Without End – Part 2

“We are not human beings on a spiritual journey. We are spiritual beings on a human journey.”
– Pierre Teilhard De Chardin

A terminal illness diagnosis can feel like losing a part of yourself. So much of our identity is tied to what we do—as our abilities change, it’s natural to wonder, “Who am I now?”

A referral from a physician or a nurse practitioner is required.

About the Program

In your life’s final chapter – every moment and memory come together like a constellation – each star, a part of your beautiful journey. Our 8-week program at SATA Centre helps you embrace this chapter as a time to explore your true self, illuminating the light from within the true self and stepping into a new way of being- a new beginning without end.

What You’ll Learn

Our intention is to learn how to respond to grief and suffering, how to move into connection with our spirit, to embrace self-compassion and move into the discovery of life’s meaning.
Each week, we meet on ZOOM for 2 hours. The first hour we spend together in a larger group receiving offerings of poetry, techniques of reducing stress in our bodies, meditations and offerings of spiritual teachings from our indigenous elder. In the second hour, we will enter into small groups of 6-8 for deeper discussion and support facilitated by a physician and a therapist.

Special Offering: In-Person Retreat

The course also includes an optional in-person retreat day with a sound journey, meditation, and opportunities for meaningful connection.
