Prefatal Courses

Before you start

Before your sessions, it’s important to watch this short video on what these sessions are about. It discusses how the sessions are run and other information which is important for you to know before starting:

We are running these classes continuously with some skipped weeks for holidays or other breaks. This means that if you miss a session, you can find out when it’s coming up again on the schedule. You can join as often as you wish. You can invite others to join you when you sign on, but if they wish to continue to come to sessions, they should register themselves which helps us to keep track of participants and also to fund the sessions so they are free for everyone to join.

The link for caregivers to join is: https://www.satacentre.com/referral-process-for-terminal-illness/

The classes will be held on Thursdays between 4pm and 5pm and may run longer depending on the Questions and Answers that happen after the information session

Prior to starting the sessions:

Please download the ZOOM app on your computer/tablet or phone.
Here is a 2 minute instructional video which shows you how:

Starting your session:

We will email you a meeting invite. Just click on the invitation link OR open your ZOOM app and then type in the meeting ID.

When you are asked to join the meeting, do not put in your real name but type in your unique sign-in number which we will email you. This makes you an anonymous participant so others can’t see who you are, but we can keep track of all our participants.

We will be muting all participants and keeping your videos off.

After the first session, you’ll find the rest easy.

When you wish to leave the ZOOM meeting, just press the little <Leave meeting> icon at the bottom right hand corner.

Making a Will

Making a will is an important part of planning for your family’s future. If you die without a will, your property will be divided according to B.C. law, and the costs to administer your estate will increase. You’ll also be giving up the right to appoint the guardian of your choice for any children in your care.

To learn more, read:

Although you can use a kit to write your own will, it’s a good idea to get help from a lawyer or notary public to make sure your will is legal. If your will isn’t considered legal, it can create a lot of problems for your heirs.
