We offer evidence-based, mindfulness-centred, community of practice group support programs for patients and resources for patients and caregivers for navigating a serious life-limiting illness diagnosis. We offer these programs through an MSP-funded model, so there is no cost to the participants.
Who Are These Programs For?
These courses are intended for anyone who has been diagnosed with a terminal or life-limiting illness.
Metastatic cancer – on or off chemotherapy
End-stage kidney failure – on or off dialysis
End-stage heart disease
End-stage lung disease
Neurological diseases such as ALS
Programs Available for Referral
A New Beginning Without End – Parts 1 & 2
SATA offers free, online mindfulness-based group programs for people living with a life-limiting illness. These therapeutic programs provide a supportive space where participants can explore connection, meaning, acceptance, and peace.
These MSP-funded programs support individuals living with serious life-limiting conditions such as metastatic cancer, end-stage organ failure, or ALS.
Part 1
A four-week introductory course focused on mindfulness, emotional resilience, connection, and reflection.
Part 2
An eight-week program exploring grief, identity, meaning, self-compassion, and spiritual connection through facilitated group sessions and an optional in-person retreat with video conferencing available for those who cannot attend.
Eligibility
Adults (18–85) with a terminal or life-limiting diagnosis
Able to consent and attend sessions
Comfortable communicating in English
Access to device, internet, and email
Resident of British Columbia (no cost to patients)
Referral Process
Patient receives a screening call after referral
Nurse and physician review referral for suitability
Referring provider receives updates if patient enrolls
